angryCoder as a movie mogul?
I just got a phone call from some yahoos out in California that are producing what they call a “Clint Eastwood” style western movie. They wanted me to invest in the project. Yeah, that sounds like a winner. I have to admit that’s a first in the sales call department for me. Usually, I just get calls about water filters and pool heaters. Have any of you heard of this type of sales call?

It must be that bad ass angryCoder reputation. They figured you would be a sympathetic investor for a movie with gratuitous violence.

did you catch the name of the flick? keep an eye out for it as it grosses tons of cash and leaves you in a puddle of your own regret and envy.
either that, or you never hear of it again and those involved end up as an extra in the next blair witch movie.

Actually, I did fill out a satisfaction survey that Porsche sent to me that asked me about my income. And the movie folks openly told me that they had purchased my contact information. I guess I can look forward to more such snake oil propositions over the next few months. Lovely.

See? That's the sole reason why I didn't buy the porsche and opted for the chevy, instead. I screwed those marketing folks, but good, I tell ya!!

I went to film school. In my producing class we were told flat out the you are better off letting the your investment ride on lucky number 7 in vegas than you are investing in a motion picture. To tell your investors anything less is unethical. Hollywood uses last in first out account. Whoever invests money last recovers thier money first. This usually mean the distribution company who take thier investment plus thier profit margin before the studio and then investors see it. Not the way to go. Anyone for a trip to Vegas. CES is playing now, isn't it?
