Sorry, wrong number

Bellsouth got their wires crossed (literally) yesterday, and for about 3 hours, I had somebody else’s home telephone number. We kept getting random phone calls from people who insisted that they were calling somebody else. We thought they were nuts until we used our home telephone to call my cell phone and checked the caller ID. It was really kind of eerie, thinking that your phone number can get hijacked like that.

Heh, never accept a collect call from jail and dial *72 + whatever number they tell you.

My fiance did this a couple of months ago and we got about $90 in collect calls billed to our home phone number.

Funny, I didn't realize it until I had tried calling my home phone from my cell phone - I talked to someone who was intercepting my phone line all day long. Then I talked to the phone co. and got the charges taken off.
